There is absolutely no denying that Turtle Beach know what they are doing. The combination of large 50mm speakers with the proprietary 360 degrees Dolby Surround Sound elevates regular gaming to a whole another level of immersion. The dedicated external volume control/equalizer is perfect for custom-tailoring the sound to your liking – and there is a lot to like.

Design and build
The Turtle Beach Ear Force DP11 Gaming Headset features an elegant, modern design with excellent finish resistant to fingerprints and smudges. Sadly, the plastic below feels much cheaper than we would like to see in headphones that cost as much as these do.
The extra-large 50mm drivers are designed with a powerful bass in mind and they deliver on this promise with flying colors. If you, however, don’t like the bass-heavy sound signature, you can easily use the included external volume controller/equalizer to adjust the sound to your liking. This is something that other manufacturers could consider doing because it gives much large room for accommodating various individual preferences.
The included microphone offers a good quality sound and respectable noise and echo suppression. When not in use, it folds neatly along the side of the headphones where it doesn’t get in the way.
Sound quality
Sound quality is where DP11 shine the most. The external volume controller/equalizer accomplishes two different things at the same time. It lets players and listeners, in general, focus on their activity without the need to adjust volume levels using their operating system’s volume control sliders. It also lets everybody easily alter the sound signature using several different pre-configured sound profiles. Don’t like the bass heavy sound during regular music listening? No problem. Just press a single button and your problem is fixed.
The very large 50mm drivers are excellent for articulating very low frequencies with a high precision and confidence. The bass doesn’t bleed out to mids, which are very clear and pleasant to listen to. There is something very entertaining about the sound reproduction of these headphones. During our testing, we had constantly found ourselves going back for more. It may have a lot to do with the wide soundstage with a good instrument separation – a feature that is quite rare in this category of headphones.
